James Campbell Successfully Represented Widow In Failure to Treat Heart Attack Case
Seeking Justice for a Widow After a Preventable Heart Attack Death
I recently had the privilege of representing a widow whose husband died too soon due to a preventable medical error: the failure to diagnose and treat a heart attack.
The decedent, a middle-aged man with known cardiac risk factors, went to the emergency department with classic symptoms of a heart attack—chest pain. Despite these warning signs, he was discharged without appropriate testing or cardiac workup. He died less than 24 hours later at home.
The loss was devastating. His wife lost her life partner, and his child lost a loving father.
Through careful investigation, expert medical review, and litigation, we alleged that the providers failed to recognize and act on textbook signs of an acute coronary event and order the most basic test, an EKG.
Medical malpractice cases involving missed heart attacks are unfortunately more common than many realize. Timely diagnosis and intervention can mean the difference between life and death. When warning signs are ignored or dismissed, families are left to suffer the consequences.
I am proud to have helped this widow find answers, justice, and a measure of closure. Her courage in pursuing this claim was not only a testament to her husband's memory, but a powerful step toward making sure other families don't endure the same loss.
If you've lost a loved one and suspect a failure in medical care may be to blame, I'm here to listen and help you understand your rights.
